Crown Prince Haakon opens Sheringham offshore windfarm

Crown Prince Haakon of Norway has officially opened the new 317 megawatt Sheringham Shoal offshore wind farm built off the north coast of Norfolk.

He was joined at the inauguration ceremony for the 88-turbine installation scheme by energy and climate change secretary Ed Davey.

Sheringham Shoal is owned equally by Statoil and Statkraft through the joint-venture company Scira Offshore Energy Limited.

Support services provider Carillion has just completed a vital cabling contract for Scira Offshore to connect the windfarm to National Grid’s transmission system.
