The Subaru ploughed through the Aylsham Garden Centre at around 10.50am on Friday, causing thousands of pounds worth of damage.

Police and an ambulance were called to the scene but no one was injured.

Susan Woodley, owner of the centre in Norwich Road, said: There was a huge bang. I couldn t see anything then one of my staff told me a car had come through the front of the garden centre.

It came completely through the front, trashed the whole of one side taking all the goods out, and ended up at the back of the shop.

By the grace of God nobody was there because they wouldn t have had anywhere to go.

The crash also took out the centre s phone lines and staff had to borrow a customer s phone to call the emergency services.

It was just everywhere, I haven t got one watering can left, Mrs Woodley added.

Structural engineers also attended and Mrs Woodley said she is dealing with insurers.

She also praised her staff who rallied round to get the business back to normal, so it could continue trading over the weekend.

I m just so proud of my staff, how they coped, how they organised it, they were wonderful, she added. We re open for business as usual.

An Aylsham woman has been charged with drink driving following the incident.

Lorna Hudson, 66, of Drabblegate, is due to appear at Norwich Magistrates Court on June 20.
