Norfolk Constabulary: Great Yarmouth incident update

Following reports yesterday (Wednesday 26 June) of a girl being
approached by a man in Great Yarmouth, police have carried out a
number of inquiries today and are satisfied that the incident did
not occur. Officers would like to thank those who assisted with
this inquiry.

Anyone with information about any suspicious persons or vehicles
should contact police on 101.

Police are appealing for information in relation an incident
that took place in the Great Yarmouth earlier today involving a
nine year old girl.

At about 4.45pm this afternoon in the
Blackfriars Road area of Yarmouth a man approached the girl and
attempted to entice her into a white van. She refused and then fled
the scene.

The man didn t pursue her and the girl was unhurt in the
incident.

Police would also take this
opportunity to remind young people that they should not talk to
strangers and to tell a parent, teacher or police officer straight
away if they are approached by someone suspicious.

Officers would like to hear from anyone who
might have information that could help.
