Loddon Pools Receive Facility Upgrades
Loddon Shire s five outdoor pools are to receive upgrades to make them even more enjoyable for users thanks to a major funding injection from the Victorian Government.
The pools at Mitiamo, Inglewood, Pyramid Hill, Boort and Wedderburn will all benefit from the $132,000 grant out of the Community Facility Funding Program.
In keeping with its commitment to provide safe and enjoyable swimming facilities for the community, the Loddon Shire Council will install further shade structures at its five outdoor pools, Mr Walsh said.
During the hot summer months there is nothing better for families than to take their young children to the pool to cool off and the construction of high quality shade areas over the shallow ends of the Shire s pools will provide even greater enjoyment for these young families.
The toddler s pools at Wedderburn and Mitiamo will also be covered to protect these very young children from the sun s harmful UV rays.
An old and unsafe shade structure at the Boort pool in the BBQ area will also be replaced.
I am also very interested in the water play features that are to be installed at the Pyramid Hill, Mitiamo and Inglewood pools, Mr Walsh said.
These features will be designed to stimulate young children and encourage increased usage of the facilities, he said.
All of these works are important components of the Loddon Council s Swimming Pool Asset Management Plan which is designed to encourage the maximum use of the Shire swimming pool facilities.
The project, which will cost $209,000 in total, will help the Council achieve its goal of providing quality swimming pool facilities for the communities of the Shire.
This is a great initiative of the Loddon Council and one which all members of the community will appreciate and look forward to taking advantage of during the heat of our northern Victorian summers, Mr Walsh said.
