Romford boss Martin: Wroxham were the better team
Boro went 1-0 down when Wroxham were awarded a penalty which Joseph Marsden dispatched from 12-yards-out. Romford were then given a penalty of their own and Paul Clayton levelled the scores. Nick Reynolds gave them the lead midway through the second half with his first for the club since returning and his 25th overall.
But despite having the lead they were unable to hold onto their advantage as the Yachtsmen equalised through Tim Carey before Remy Gordon consigned them to a frustrating defeat which left Martin dejected. The Romford manager said: I don t think anyone was as disappointed as me after Saturday, it was a big game for us but things aren t going our way at the moment. It wasn t a good performance.
They were the better team and even when we went 2-1 up it was against the run of play. Although Martin was frustrated with his side he admits all teams have blips throughout the season, adding: We are having a blip, every team goes through these blips and they bounce back, we just hope we bounce back quickly from this. Romford were seven points clear of the drop zone before last weekend s match and fortunately that gap remains the same, although Wroxham are now level on points with them.
The Boro manager was frustrated with the lack of quality his team showed when they got into good positions near the end of the match when they were trailing. They have some good players and unfortunately they were all on it on Saturday, added Martin. But we carried ten players unfortunately, which isn t good enough.
Even at the end we got the ball back up there, won a few corners but we had no quality coming into the box and got what we deserved.
