ThinkingWISP is bringing wireless broadband to …

ThinkingWISP, a local business partnership between AF Affinity
Limited, Norfolk RCC and InTouch Systems, is bringing a completely
wireless broadband connection to more communities in the Norfolk
area.

Attleborough, Wymondham, Hetherset and Long Stratton will now
benefit from the technology which has already been available in the
Aylsham area since autumn 2011.

According to the Norwich Evening
news, the InTouch Systems Director Steve Temple has also promised
the network will be expanded further next year.

The system works by beaming radio waves from a transmitter at
Norwich Airport to the two masts at Aylsham and Wymondham.

From
there the signal is broadcast in all directions and picked up again
by small aerials on homes and businesses throughout the area,
giving them a broadband connection of up to 10Mb.

George Freeman, MP for Mid Norfolk, said:

Modern communications are essential for unlocking new
opportunities and for preserving our rural way of life here in
Norfolk, as well as letting the next generation of business
flourish.

Localised innovative broadband schemes like this are what we
need as part of a wider approach to getting the much needed fast
broadband to all areas across the County in the shortest time
possible to help our rural economy continue to thrive.
