Wisbech family organise bingo to raise money for King's Lynn hospital 0

Wisbech family organise bingo to raise money for King's Lynn hospital

A Wisbech woman wants to give something back to the hospital which has been supporting her mother who is battling pancreatic cancer. Gill Coakley, 66, of Prince of Wales Close, has defied doctors expectations that she would succumb to the terminal disease more than 18 months ago. Mrs Coakley has been treated at the cancer unit at Lynn s Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

Now her daughter, Kym George, has been inspired by her mother s bravery to organise a fundraising bingo to support the unit. Mrs George is hoping to raise enough money to pay for a television or to provide WIFI to allow patients to browse the internet while undergoing chemotherapy. She has put together a bingo in Walsoken Village Hall on Friday, May 30, from 7.30pm.

Mrs George, 33, said: The nurses at the hospital were absolutely brilliant when mum was having chemotherapy. They were good to the whole family. The doctors weren t too hopeful in the beginning but mum has survived far longer than they predicted.

We re hoping to raise up to 1000 at the bingo session, to go towards cancer care and treatment at the hospital.

If mum feels up to it on the night, she s hoping to be there.
