Downham Market cadets are recruiting now

Cadets from the Downham squadron swapped their uniforms for rugby kits to compete at a tournament.

Youngsters from 1018 (Downham Market) Air Cadets competed against 16 other squadrons from across Norfolk and Suffolk at a touch rugby tournament. Swaffham RFC player and coach Des Lloyd helped the team to prepare ahead of the tournament with five weeks of training. David Lawrence from the squadron, said: We would like to thank Des and the club for all their support and efforts.

The cadets all had a fantastic time at the competition and enjoyed taking part in an activity which for most of the cadets was something completely new to them. It rained heavily throughout the day but spirits remained high and the team put on a great show. The squadron is looking for more 13 to 18-year-olds to join its ranks.

The group meets every Wednesday and Friday, 7pm, in the cadet building off the Bexwell roundabout.
