An 11-year-old girl claims she was approached by a man in Thorpe St Andrew, police have said.

The incident took place at about 3.30pm on Wednesday when the victim was walking alone on Laundry Lane in the direction of Pound Lane, adjacent to Eastern Crescent.

A man driving a car pulled up, got out of the vehicle and offered to take her home.

The 11-year-old ran off to her parents house, shaken but unhurt.

The suspect is described as white, about 5ft 10ins to 5ft 11ins tall, clean shaven, aged in his late 40s or early 50s, and had what are described as three scabby scratches on his left cheek.

He is also described as having a plump build and a fat face.

He had grey hair that was shaven down the sides, but longer on top and swept back.

There is no description of the clothing he was wearing and the vehicle is described only as a white or silver car.

Enquiries are ongoing to establish the exact circumstances and anyone who witnessed the incident or saw any suspicious behaviours should contact Sgt Lee Beckham on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
