Norwich registered sex offender arrested for probation violations
Robert Beemer, 51, of Norwich, arrested for probation violation fifteen years after convictions for illegal sexual contact with victims under 16 years old.
NORWICH, Conn. (WTNH) A registered sex offender was arrested Saturday in Groton on probation violation charges, and is expected to be arraigned in court Monday.
According to officials, police executed arrest warrants for Robert Beemer, 51, of Norwich, at his workplace in Groton. Groton City police officers took the convicted felon into custody and turned him over to Norwich Police afterward.
In November 2000, Beemer was convicted of two separate cases of illegal sexual contact of victims under the age of sixteen, requiring Beemer to register as a lifetime sex offender, officials said.
Authorities have not specified the exact terms of how Beemer violated his probation.
Beemer is being held on a $300,000 cash bond pending his arraignment Monday.
