No Refund For Disaster Fund – The Voice Newspaper
Minister of Presidential Affairs and Public Administration, Eric Molale, says money that was taken from the National Disaster Relief Fund to assist setting up the Directorate of Intelligence and Security Services (DISS) will not be returned.
When answering a question by Francistown South Member of Parliament (MP), Wynter Mmolotsi, on whether the money would be returned, Molale said DISS was a new organization that needed urgent funding.
Normally this would not entail any further adjustments to return the funds, he said.
The Minister further explained that the money was not transferred to DISS from the Disaster Fund contrary to popular belief, but rather that it was used to help set up the DISS.
In this particular instance it has to be noted that since 2009/2010, my Ministry has budgeted P5million annually for purposes of replenishing the National Disaster Relief Fund.
