Thursday's Daily Deal round-up: handball, cricket and more

Sports industry deals in brief. Swimming: The Singapore Swimming Association has announced Phiten Singapore as its sports recovery partner. The three-year agreement is reported to be worth US$72,000 each year in cash and goods.

Basketball: African broadcaster StarTimes has picked up a package of broadcast rights to the upcoming season of the African Basketball League (ABL), which features teams from Nigeria, Senegal, Ivory Coast and Gabon.

Under the deal, StarTimes Trace Sports Stars pay-TV channel will show regular season coverage plus the league s All-Star Game, playoffs and behind the scenes content.

Handball: The German Handball Federation (DHB) has struck a sponsorship and licensing deal with sports goods retailer Karstadt Sports. The agreement, brokered by Lagard re Sports, will run until January 2018 but includes an option to extend for another year, with Karstadt set to sell official team jerseys on behalf of the DHB and receive advertising at matches played by Germany s men’s and women’s national teams.

Motorsport: All-terrain vehicle manufacturer Polaris RZR is to title sponsor this year s Mint 400 off-road race in Las Vegas. The three-day event, described as the most challenging and thrilling off-road race on the planet , is due to begin on 9th March.

Speedway: Roger Warnes Transport has extended its title sponsorship of the King s Lynn British speedway team.

The haulage firm has backed the team for the past seven seasons.

Cricket: British county side Somerset have signed Commsplus Ltd as their exclusive communications partner.

The two-year deal will see the logo of the company, which is based in nearby Weston-super-Mare, displayed on the sleeve of the club s Royal London One-Day Cup shirt.
