Police community support office Allison Holmes told Cromer Town Council about the safer neighbourhood (Snap) team s priorities at Monday s meeting. She said: There are three current priorities: enforcement of parking regulations in the pedestrianised areas of Cromer; promoting crime prevention at camping and caravan site; high-visibility patrols in Cromer town centre. She said there were 21 reported crimes in the Cromer area in the previous 28 days, including two historic rape allegations – one dating back to between 1965 and 1976 and one in 2009.

Other reported crimes included possession of indecent images between August 2011 and March 2013, two cases of criminal damage, theft of copper cables from a disused site and seven common assaults – five of which were at nursing homes or care facilities.

PCSO Holmes said the incidents at the homes had to be recorded, but often involved people suffering from Alzheimer s.

She told members that the next Snap panel meeting would be held in the council chamber at North Lodge at 6.30pm on June 17.
