Norfolk Constabulary: Fakenham 'bush' burglar pleads guilty
27 March 2014
A burglar found by police hiding in bushes
has appeared at court to plead guilty.
Gheorghita Dinu, 20, of no fixed abode, was
one of two men pursued by police after local residents reported a
burglary in progress at a property in Wells Road, Fakenham, on the
evening of Saturday 8 March.
The suspects made off across farmland and,
with the help of the police helicopter, Dinu was located hiding in
nearby bushes a short while later.
He was arrested by police
officers on the ground and subsequently charged.
Appearing at Norwich Crown Court on
Wednesday 26 March, Dinu admitted an offence of burglary and was
remanded in custody for sentencing on a date to be fixed.
Praising the quick-thinking actions of
members of the public, Inspector Teresa Futter said: “Thanks to
nearby residents calling 999 and offering really good descriptions
of the suspects, police were able to quickly dispatch units,
including the police helicopter, to the scene.
“This is a great example of communities and
police working together to reduce crime and keep people safe.
