New Learning Facility at Sandringham College opens
Minister for Education James Merlino today visited Sandringham College, in Sandringham, to open a new learning facility and meet students and staff.
The College s Discovery Centre is the first building completed under the school s master plan and is ready for students to use.
Sandringham College offers a wide range of academic, artistic and sporting opportunities and reflects the Victorian Government s vision that every student should be given the greatest opportunity to achieve success.
The 2015-16 Victorian Budget provided the school with an additional $2 million to be spent on rebuilding classrooms and other facilities at the College s Sandringham (Years 7-10) and Senior campuses.
The Victorian Government is investing billions of dollars to make Victoria the Education State.
The 2015 16 State Budget invests almost $4 billion over four years representing the single biggest boost to education funding in Victoria s history.
This includes a record $730 million investment that will ensure every community has access to a great local school, and every child gets the chance to succeed.
An extensive and revitalised school building program is underway, as part of the Education State, and scores of Victorian schools will be renovated, refurbished, maintained and rebuilt to improve the physical standard of schools and classrooms.
The Education State is about taking our education system from good to great by fixing our schools, early learning facilities and skills centres, and building the right infrastructure to support our kids to thrive because good infrastructure makes for great places to learn. It is a real honour to visit the Sandringham Campus of Sandringham College and meet with students, teachers and families and to officially open the Discovery Centre. We re updating our schools, early learning facilities and skills centres to make sure our students have great places to learn and thrive.
