Plan to build 100 homes in Sherfield-on-Loddon

MORE than 100 new homes could be built in Sherfield-on-Loddon.

Phillips Planning Consultants Limited has approached Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council2 to see if an environmental impact assessment (EIA) is needed to build 150 new homes at Redlands.

The assessment is a survey which is carried out before a full planning application is submitted to the borough council.

Redlands, on the A33 opposite the Sherfield Park development, is included in the draft Local Plan which is due to be examined by Government planning inspector Mike Fox this autumn.

Access to the site would be provided by a new road off the Taylors Farm Roundabout.

The application says: There would be a mix of unit sizes and types with all properties benefiting from appropriate levels of parking, garaging and garden space. Affordable housing would be provided in accordance with relevant policy requirements.

It adds: The proposed development would clearly result in additional traffic to and from the site onto the A33. The application will include measures to mitigate the impact of development on the local road network.

An initial review of the proposals by highway consultants WSP suggests that the increase in vehicle movements would not have any significant/material impact on local highway conditions.

Full traffic modelling and junction capacity details will be provided with the application.
