Cannabis plants seized in Norwich

12 May 2015

More than 200 cannabis plants have been seized after a factory
was uncovered in Norwich this morning following a tip-off.

Officers searched a five-bedroom house in Cambridge Street after
concerns were raised by a local resident about suspicious activity
at a property.

Police attended the address shortly after 11am and seized 232
plants along with drug paraphernalia.

A 28-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of
cannabis cultivation and remains in custody at Wymondham Police
Investigation Centre where he will be questioned.

Sgt Stu Daniels said police would always act on information
given about suspected drug use.

He said: “These types of calls are
taken seriously and as this case demonstrates we will take action
where necessary.

“This was a fairly sophisticated set-up and the electricity
supply had also been tampered with.

Anyone with similar concerns
about drug use in their neighbourhood should contact police using
the 101 number.
