Teddy Sheringham believes that signing Charlie Austin for 15m would represent good value for money after the striker’s impressive season for Queens Park Rangers.

The 26-year-old scored 18 goals during his debut season in the Premier League but could not prevent Rangers from suffering relegation.

Tottenham striker Harry Kane was the only Englishman to score more top flight goals than Austin, who received a call up to Roy Hodgson’s Thre Lions squad in May.

Austin has been strongly linked with a move away from Loftus Road after Rangers dropped into the second tier and Sheringham believes the striker would be an excellent acquisition for a fee of 15m.

“He would be a great signing, said the Stevenage manager, who was speaking exclusively to 888sport1 ahead of the new season.
