A RETAINED firefighter was killed in a car crash while responding to an emergency call.
Paul Keenor, 23, from Ashurst Wood, a building contractor and a retained firefighter with the East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service, died after the crash on Saturday night.
He was travelling in a Toyota Celica and died after it crashed into a wall at Ashurst Wood, near East Grinstead, at 11.55pm.
He had been a crew member at Forest Row fire station since 2011.
It is understood he was responding to his alerter as a result of a 999 call received by ESFRS when the crash occurred in Wall Hill Road, Ashurst Wood.
No other vehicle was involved.
