UK: Bus Driver Fighting For Life And 11 Passengers Injured After Collision

A bus driver is fighting for his life after a bus and a low-loader lorry carrying a steam engine were involved in a collision.

A total of 32 people were on the bus and 11 injured in the smash, four with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

The bus driver was freed by firefighters and airlifted to Royal London Hospital with life-threatening injuries, police said.

The injured passengers were taken to Colchester General Hospital.

A 51-year-old man from Great Yarmouth has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and is currently in custody.

The road is likely to remain closed for most of the day.

Police believed the lorry travelled from Lowestoft this morning.

The crash happened on East Road, East Mersea, Essex, just before 10am.
