Braintree Police have issued a traffic advisory due to a total of four downed poles.

Chief Russell Jenkins said three utility poles snapped and are lying on a portion of Washington Street Route 37 between Jefferson Street and Hancock and Plain streets.

A fourth pole also snapped behind the Tiki Palace.

Police don t know the exact cause yet, but it s possibly related to a transformer exploding, along with high winds.

The chief said no one was hurt and no vehicle crashes were reported.

Crews are on the scene, working to restore power, but work is expected to run through the night and into the early morning hours.

Police detours will be stationed at Jefferson Street and Hancock and Plain Streets.

An officer will also be stationed at the intersection of Washington and Hancock during rush hour.

Drivers are urged to use an alternate route and avoid that stretch of Route 37.
