Tesco is stopping 24-hour shopping at 76 of its stores around one in five of those as of now open day and night. The organization says the development of online shopping implies that specific shops had only few clients amid the night. The move is Tesco s most recent push to pivot its business which has been hit by difficulties on a few fronts.

Seventy four of its outlets will close in the middle of midnight and 6am and four hundred staff will be affected.

Tesco says it will do its best to ensure all staff affected is taken into its existing stores neighboring them. The outlets incorporate those in Mickleover Superstore, Derbyshire, Flitwick Superstore in Bedfordshire and Dereham Extra in Norfolk. There are around 400 Tesco stores open 24 hours a day.

It makes much more sense for colleagues at those stores to focus on replenishing the shelves instead and making sure they re fully stocked when they open their doors at 6am, said Tesco retail chief Tony Hoggett.

This is the most recent stride in CEO Dave Lewis shake-up of the general store s business.

Since he joined the organization in September 2014 he has put Tesco s attention on price cuts and putting more staff in stores trying to resuscitate the organization s fortunes.
