Angelica Place, a day care centre in Griston, Norfolk, which provides services to people with dementia, has been shortlisted as one of three finalists for the Excellence in Delivering Dementia Care category in the 2016 Norfolk Care Awards. The Norfolk Care Awards are designed to showcase excellence and demonstrate the commitment organisations and individuals have in delivering quality care and support services across Norfolk. Angelica Place, which is run by Manorcourt Homecare the homecare services division of the Healthcare Homes Group provides vital support to approximately 500 people each month from Griston, Watton, Thetford and the surrounding villages.

It provides people with dementia, and their carers and family members, with a place they can visit to meet others facing the same challenges. Angelica Place has been refurbished to incorporate a wide range of appropriate facilities, including an Audrey Hepburn ladies beauty salon, a Barber Shop, a 1950 s inspired tea parlour to aid reminiscence, a sensory room and sensory garden. The centre also hosts the Friendship Caf which is a weekly support group, where an experienced Dementia Champion is on hand to offer advice, information and support to both those diagnosed with dementia and their carers.

The group meets every Monday morning. A minibus is also on hand for outings or appointments for those that use the centre. Commenting on the shortlist, Mike Osborne, Managing Director of Manorcourt Homecare said: We are proud to be recognised for the work we do in supporting people with dementia across Norfolk.

At Angelica Place, we have gone that extra mile to provide a range of services that fully support not only those with dementia, but their carers or family members. Here, people can meet others experiencing dementia first hand and share their experiences, while also receiving friendly yet professional advice, support and friendship. The winners will be announced at an evening reception at Sprowston Hotel, Norwich, on 25th February 2016.

Angelica Place Day Centre is located on Manor Road, Griston, Norfolk, IP25 6RG. For more information visit the centre (Monday to Friday, from 9:00am to 4:00pm) and speak to a member of the team.
